Three Yatsugatake Beer Touchdown Beers Arrive at Izuya Shoten, and COLD IPA Makes Its Debut
A new shipment from Yamanashi Prefecture's Yatsugatake Beer Touchdown has arrived at the beer pub Izuya Shoten in Nakanobu, Shinagawa Ward, Tokyo. In addition to two standard offerings, the lineup also includes “Hop Master COLD IPA,” the first challenge for head brewer Tentsu Miyashita, making for a selection that delivers a crisp, refreshing drink well suited to early summer.
At the beer pub Izuya Shoten in Nakanobu, Tokyo, Yatsugatake Beer Touchdown from Yamanashi Prefecture has arrived. The names mentioned in this announcement are the standard “Kiyosato Lager” and “Rock Weizen,” plus the new “Hop Master COLD IPA,” for a total of three beers.
The one to watch is the new “Hop Master COLD IPA.” According to the announcement, it is the first challenge for head brewer “102,” Tentsu Miyashita, and is designed with lager yeast and Koshihikari rice from Hokuto City. On top of aiming for a clear, sharp drinking finish, it uses 100% Kaikogane and Cascade hops from Kobayashi Hop Farm, bringing out a fresh citrus aroma. As temperatures rise, it is the kind of beer that is easy to choose as your first pint.
Another notable point is that the two standard beers are available at the same time. As a comparison lineup, trying the lager-style “Kiyosato Lager,” the wheat-based “Rock Weizen,” and then the new IPA makes it easy to grasp the brewery's range.
Izuya Shoten offers paid tastings in the shop starting around 5:00 p.m. The compact space seats about eight people at full capacity, with the last order at 9:00 p.m. and closing at 10:00 p.m. Because it is a liquor store with a retail area attached, there are also customers stopping by to shop, so the place feels right when people are considerate and drink in a calm atmosphere. It is a good fit for stopping in after work for one or two drinks, or for checking something before buying a bottle.
This timing, when both the Yatsugatake-origin standard beers and the new release can be tried at once, is a practical heads-up for craft beer fans who follow tap changes.
