The beer pub Bakushu Yumeyomi in Kyoto’s Gion-Shijo area updated its tap list on April 18. While saying there were no changes to the draft lineup, it highlighted four beers: Yorocco’s Italian Pils, Shiro Suzume’s IPA, Baeren’s Rauchbock, and Minoh’s Session Black IPA, noting that all of them were down to only a little stock.

The food special for the day is “Salsiccia! Just arrived.” In addition to the standard version, a dish featuring black garlic and negi is also available, and the post described the black garlic as “an explosion of fruity umami.” The freshly fried fries are served with chaat masala, so the snacks are well set up for keeping the beer glasses moving.

There was also movement on the bottled beer side, with one customer reportedly enjoying a large bottle of Otoko-gi Lambic alone. That willingness to suggest a way of drinking different from draft beer is very much in keeping with this place. In addition, the shop announced that on Friday the 24th and Saturday the 25th next week, it will pause serving Yebisu Beer and instead offer Sapporo Draft Beer Black Label. During the Golden Week period, it will be open every day from April 29 through May 6, so the lineup supporting a drink in Gion will stay lively for the time being.

The shop is on the second floor of Shimaya Building in Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto. The post says “solo guests welcome” and “reservations are not accepted,” making it a place well suited to dropping in casually and taking each drink as it comes. It is worth remembering as one spot in central Kyoto where you can calmly enjoy draft beer, bottled beer, and freshly made food.
