Gekizaka Arrives in Bottles

CIDER SHACK in Higashi, Shibuya, is a beer pub that lets guests enjoy both bottle releases and real ale. The latest arrival is the collaboration beer Gekizaka Golden Mild Ale from Matsumoto Brewery and Kanpai! Brewing. The beer has been out for a while, but this is the first time the bottles have landed at the shop.

Gekizaka Golden Mild Ale is a gentle golden mild with a light 3.5% ABV, soft malt sweetness, and a smooth mouthfeel. Rather than pushing bold bitterness or flashy aromas, it is the kind of beer that invites a slower pace and a longer conversation. The bottle label was designed by artist Hitohisa Isogai, giving the package a friendly, approachable feel.

The pub is also serving Matsumoto Brewery’s Old Shilling Scottish Heavy as a real ale pour. That makes CIDER SHACK a good stop for comparing two very different expressions from the same brewery: one in a mellow bottled mild, the other in a malt-forward Scottish heavy. For beer fans, the contrast is part of the appeal.
