Nagano Brewery Taps This Year’s Fresh Hop Beer
Nagano Brewery in Nagano City has announced the tapping of this year’s fresh hop beer. The seasonal release, made with freshly harvested hops, will be available at the brewery’s taproom, offering beer fans a chance to experience the character of the local harvest.
Nagano Brewery has announced on Instagram that it is tapping this year’s fresh hop beer today. The brewery has not disclosed the beer’s name, style, ABV, or hop variety, but fresh hop beers are known for showcasing the vivid, green and juicy character of hops used soon after harvest. Because they are tied closely to the harvest season, these beers are among the most limited and anticipated releases on the craft beer calendar.
Nagano Brewery is located in Ojojichi, Nagano City, approximately an eight-minute walk from Zenkoji Temple. The brewery operates as a circular brewery that combines brewing with farming. Hops and fruit grown on its own farm are used as brewing ingredients, while spent malt is reused as fertilizer for the farm.
According to the brewery’s official website, Nagano Brewery aims to create beers that express the terroir of Ojojichi. Its brewing philosophy draws on the area’s hilly environment, local soil, clear air and water, and the ingredients cultivated on its land. This fresh hop release is therefore an opportunity to enjoy not only the aroma of newly harvested hops, but also the brewery’s connection to its surroundings.
The beer is being served at the brewery’s taproom. The schedule listed on the official website is Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from noon to 6:00 p.m. As availability and opening hours may change, visitors should check the brewery’s official social media channels before making the trip.
Fresh hop beer is a fleeting expression of the harvest, available only during a short window each year. For beer lovers in Nagano and visitors exploring the area, this release offers a timely way to taste the season directly from the brewery.
