Kirali Brewery launches Hanamichi, a Kölsch inspired by Yachiyoza
Kirali Brewery in Yamaga, Kumamoto has begun selling Hanamichi, a Kölsch-style beer inspired by the hanamichi walkway of the Important Cultural Property Yachiyoza. The beer is described as light, clean, and close to a lager-like drinking profile.
Kirali Brewery is a craft brewery based in Yamaga, Kumamoto. On its official site, the brewery describes its approach as brewing with local produce and the seasons, and its lineup includes regionally minded beers such as Takemacha IPA.
The newly released Hanamichi is a Kölsch-style beer inspired by the hanamichi walkway that leads to the stage of Yachiyoza, a nationally designated Important Cultural Property. In the brewery's Instagram post, it is presented as a new release built around a light, lager-like drinking experience.
The beer's flavor profile centers on the gentle aroma of Hallertau Mittelfrüh and a clean fermentation from K-97 yeast. Silk is also used to create a softer mouthfeel and a smooth finish. The beer comes in a 330 ml bottle and has an alcohol content of 5.0%. Its ingredients are malt (produced in Germany), sugar, hops, silk, and carbon dioxide.
Rather than pushing bitterness or hop intensity to the front, Hanamichi is designed for a crisp, easygoing finish. It ties Yamaga's cultural scenery to a restrained, balanced beer built for slow drinking with food.
