Canadian fruit sours arrive

The Beer Shop Hirakata city (Hirakata, Osaka Prefecture) announced in an Instagram post on May 10 that it had stocked fruit-based sours from Canada’s Bellwoods. The post introduced a lineup based on the brand’s Jelly King series.

Arrived this time were,
- Passion fruit, orange, guava
- Raspberry, mango
- Pink lemonade (made with strawberry, peach, raspberry, blackberry, and lemon)
- Plum

of four varieties. All are based on dry-hopped sour ales, letting drinkers enjoy the differences in fruit combinations as they are. The post also noted that they are easy to pair with the muggy weather of the coming season and work well as a food-pairing beer.

Draft beers that day

The tap list that day featured a good balance of core brands and local breweries.
- Kuro Label / Sapporo Beer
- Old Rookie 3 / Naminooto Brewing
- Session Citra White / Hirakata Beer
- Sorachi 1984 / Sapporo Beer
- Still Dreaming 2 / Naminooto Brewing
- Nice Bitter / Minoh Beer

It was a lineup where Bellwoods fruit sours, domestic staple lagers, and local brewery beers appeared on the same day, making it possible to choose from everything from an easy-drinking pint to something to sip slowly.

Atmosphere of the shop

The Beer Shop Hirakata city is a beer pub located in Hirakata San Plaza Building No. 3, directly connected to Hirakatashi Station. Centered around counter seating, it is easy to buy a drink and enjoy it on the spot. The interior, with plenty of wood, has a relaxed atmosphere, and if paired with the smoked food from the adjoining Hirakata Smoked Works, it is also well suited to taking your time over beer. Thanks to its convenient access from the station, it is an easy place to stop by on the way home from work or between transfers.
