Naminooto Brewing's new release announced on Instagram is "Yes!PISTACHIO (Yes! Pistachio)," a milk shake w/pistachio style beer. Its specs are ABV 6.0% and IBU 25, and the ingredients are listed as barley malt, whey, pistachios, wheat malt, oats, hops, and carbonated water.

According to the post, the brew was fermented by combining the wort with whey from Awaji Island Cheese Kobo. Dry hopping and a large amount of pistachios were then added, with the flavors layered further through secondary fermentation and aging. The design is notable for aiming at a savory pistachio-derived aroma, hop-driven fruitiness, and a milky, creamy mouthfeel.

This project is a collaboration with Nuts Lab, a Kobe nut specialty shop. The sales schedule announced that the business-oriented online store sales (350 ml cans and 10 L kegs) will begin at noon on March 6, while the consumer online store sales will begin on March 13.

Naminooto Brewing is based in Minamiawaji, Hyogo Prefecture, and on its official website it promotes beer making that "brings out the ingredients." As a brewery that has emphasized returning value to the local community while using Awaji Island ingredients, this release, which combines island-sourced whey with a city-based specialty shop (Nuts Lab), seems to perfectly embody its philosophy.

Beyond the buzz of being a collaboration label, the fact that it discloses its ingredient composition and fermentation design in detail makes it one to watch for craft beer fans as well. This is a new release worth trying in the glass to see how the savory pistachio character and milk-shake-like texture come together.
