Two Shiga Kogen Beer Releases Arrive at Izuya Shoten: Kind of Gold and HOUSE LAGER
Two new Shiga Kogen Beer releases have arrived at the beer pub Izuya Shoten in Shinagawa, Tokyo. The lineup features "Kind of Gold," created with American craft beer legends, and "HOUSE LAGER ver2.02 Kinmon Nishiki," a lager inspired by the character of the local area.
New Shiga Kogen Beer arrivals have landed at Izuya Shoten in Nakanobu, Shinagawa, Tokyo. This time, two contrasting beers are available: an IPA and a lager. As a beer pub that also offers paid tastings inside the shop, this arrival expands the fun of comparing different beers.
The one drawing the most attention is "Kind of Gold." It is introduced as an IPA brewed in a three-way collaboration with DOGFISH HEAD and OXBOW, using Carolina Gold rice and Edisto Gold Honey, a wild honey. The alcohol content is 8%, and the IBU is 80. It is a beer that layers collaboration-driven ingredients onto the sturdy structure typical of Shiga Kogen Beer.
The other release is "HOUSE LAGER ver2.02 Kinmon Nishiki." As its description says, it is a lager made in the spirit of "a beer we want to drink ourselves: a lager unique to this place!" The alcohol content is 5.5%, and the IBU is 22. It seems like a beer that would work equally well as the first drink of the day or after a bright, aromatic IPA.
Izuya Shoten is a liquor store and beer pub where part of the appeal is following the changing lineup of craft beer. This time, an IPA that emphasizes aroma and bitterness and a lager focused on drinkability have arrived at the same time, making it a perfect moment to experience the range of Shiga Kogen Beer.
