Tokyo's Adachi-based Sakaduki Brewing announced on its June 12 Instagram post that cans of its peated Scotch ale, FUKAYOMI, are now being sold at its taproom.

FUKAYOMI is the original brand beer of Sanseido Bookstore's flagship store, which reopened on March 19 at Jimbocho 1-1. According to the brewery, it was developed with Sanseido's project team as a beer meant to accompany reading and deepen the experience of books.

The sale is being offered through the taproom only. Sakaduki says the cans are being sold at a favorable price because the best-before date is approaching, and that they can work as a casual gift or a beer to enjoy with a book on a rainy evening.

The beer is described as a richly sweet peated Scotch ale made with seven malts, including peat, smoke, caramel, and roast, and finished with American oak. Its dark amber liquid is said to reveal shifting aromas of peat, caramel, vanilla, and raisin over time, making it a beer that invites slow drinking and gradual change.

For a brewery operating from a taproom in Senju, this release brings a bookstore collaboration into the everyday retail setting, giving the beer a clear link to reading and place.
