A beer pub on Daikanyama’s “Castle Street”
Bibibi., operating in Room 102 of Castle Mansion at 13-8 Daikanyamacho, mentioned the street in front of the shop, commonly known as “Castle Street.” Its official name is Daikanyama Street, but it is known by a nickname derived from the building name, and in the 1980s and 1990s the street was said to be bustling thanks in part to the popularity of vintage clothing shops.
“Bibibi.” is a beer bar specializing in Japanese craft beer. Ten taps line the interior, and the lineup changes whenever a keg runs dry. The small standing-room space, with handmade taps lined up, is about 8 tsubo, laid out lengthwise with a counter in the back and tables in front. Against a gentle BGM backdrop, it is easy to use both for people who want to savor their beer slowly and for those who want to drop in for a casual drink.
The defining feature of this shop is that it serves beer together with the “story of the maker.” It mainly carries beers from breweries the owner interviewed directly, and the shop’s QR codes also provide access to columns introducing the brewers. Rather than ending with just drinking the brand, you can read the background too, which deepens the impression of each glass.
Also, being able to drink outside with a plastic cup is another Bibibi. signature touch. Taking advantage of its location, a 3-minute walk from Daikanyama Station and a 10-minute walk from Ebisu Station, it is easy to stop by in the middle of a stroll. Lined along a street that still holds the memory of the neighborhood, it is a place worth noting for the pleasure of drinking while checking the taps that change day by day.
