Beer House Hobbit, a craft beer pub in Hirakata, Osaka, has tapped Repubrew’s “Gomai Hana no Kinmokusei.”

The beer was inspired by the osmanthus tree at Mishima Taisha in Mishima, Shizuoka, where Repubrew is based. The tree is said to be more than 1,200 years old. Using a Kölsch as its foundation, the beer adds the floral character of osmanthus to a light and refreshing base.

It pours a golden yellow. Sweet, floral aromas rise from the glass, followed by the crisp, delicate profile expected of a Kölsch. Subtle apple- and lychee-like notes meet the osmanthus fragrance, while a clean finish keeps the beer highly drinkable. Gentle malt sweetness adds balance without making the beer feel heavy.

Its aromatic character gives it a clear seasonal identity, but the underlying Kölsch remains light and approachable. The beer should work well with food or as a refreshing choice between more robust pours. It offers a way to enjoy the scent of autumn through a bright, finely balanced craft beer.

Beer House Hobbit is located on Kawaramachi in Hirakata, Osaka, and serves a rotating selection of craft beers in a relaxed pub setting. Check with the pub for current availability and remaining stock.
