Nagano Brewery launches its green-plum sour ale Seijo
Nagano Brewery will begin serving its new sour ale, Seijo, made with green plums grown on its own farm, from August 13. The beer will be available on tap only through August 16, and a Potato Festival is also planned for August 15.
New beer made with green plums
Nagano Brewery in Ojoji, Nagano City, is launching a new sour ale called Seijo on August 13. The beer uses green plums grown on the brewery's own farm and is described as a tap-only release with a fresh aroma and a pleasant acidity.
A brewery built around its farm
The brewery presents itself as a circular brewery, operating its farm and brewery as one system. According to its official site, it uses hops and fruit grown on its own land as brewing ingredients, and reuses spent grain as fertilizer for the farm. The idea is to reflect the character of Ojoji, Nagano City, in the beer itself.
Availability
Seijo will be served from August 13 through August 16 as a limited offering for the Obon period. On August 15, Nagano Brewery will also host a Potato Festival, giving visitors another reason to stop by the taproom and try the seasonal release.
