Takao Beer has introduced “Teruha - Herbal Saison,” part of its collaboration series with Hachioji geisha. The 4.0% saison combines wormwood’s distinctive bitterness and anise-like aroma with grapefruit and a lingering citrus finish.
Takao Beer has introduced a new release from its collaboration series with Hachioji geisha, titled “Teruha - Herbal Saison.” The beer has an ABV of 4.0% and is based on Takao Beer’s house saison. Flowering-season wormwood was steeped into the beer to create its distinctive herbal character.
Wormwood brings a pronounced bitterness and an anise-like aroma, while this year’s version also features grapefruit. The beer finishes with lingering citrus notes, balancing the assertive herbal profile with a refreshing impression.
Takao Beer also recommends the beer as a chaser or mixer for drinks made with wormwood, such as absinthe. At the brewery’s taproom, beer cocktails are prepared alongside draft pours, offering another way to explore the collaboration’s herbal and spirit-forward character.
Founded in 2017 by local residents at the foot of Mount Takao, Takao Beer is a small brewery based in Hachioji, Tokyo.
