THE BEER TOKACHI, a beer pub in Obihiro, Hokkaido, will host a release and first-pour event for its new original beer, `Gratia`, at 5:00 p.m. on August 14. As a craft beer spot that pours beers from Tokachi and beyond, it is a fitting place to showcase a new house beer.
`Gratia` is brewed as a `Pale Ale W/Shikerepe`. The name comes from Latin, where it means thanks and blessing. According to the post, the recipe centers on malt from Tokachi's Toyokoro Town and wild Japanese pepper fruit gathered by `anomori`, a project focused on forest-use activity. The beer is described as having a rich malt base, with berry- and herb-like notes from the shikerepe fruit and restrained hop character.
The launch event will include a countdown for the first pour and a group toast inside the shop. Guests who follow the green dress code, matching the new beer label, can receive a size-up perk from regular size. A first-come, first-served wooden coaster made from timber harvested by `anomori` will also be available. It is a release designed to be enjoyed for both the beer itself and the atmosphere around it.
