Hyogo- and Kobe-based Open Air Minatoyama Brewery has unveiled a collaboration that puts its connection to music culture front and center. The partner this time is TOWER RECORDS BEER, which is opening inside Tower Records Shibuya. According to the announcement, the commemorative opening beer brewed for the launch is "LISTEN TO THE MUSIC."

The style is West Coast IPA. The recipe information released includes ABV 6.5% / IBU 50, and the hops are Citra, Simcoe, and Mosaic. It appears to be a classic combination evoking citrus and pine aromas, built around a clean bitterness. The post also linked the style choice to the context of the U.S. West Coast, where Tower Records originated, adding meaning to the selection.

On the serving side, an initial distribution route has been prepared in Kobe. According to the guidance, draft service begins at the Kobe Motomachi location, and canned products will be sold at Kobe Motomachi or Minatoyama Food Hall. No online sales are planned, and with extremely limited quantities, the beer is expected to be served mainly in Shibuya after it sells out. The label can featuring the exterior of TOWER RECORDS Shibuya as its motif also shows that this beer is designed not just as a standalone product, but as a commemorative item of the "music experience."

Open Air Minatoyama Brewery describes itself on its official information as a brewery that "revitalizes the former elementary school cafeteria in Kobe City as a brewery, and makes beer that makes use of local water, produce, and seasonal feeling." A brewery rooted in the local community has now teamed up with a city music hub to create a project that connects local culture and pop culture. It is a collaboration worth noting because it proposes not only how to drink craft beer, but also where and with what to experience it.
