Ji-Beer Bar Maru Mugi in Arakicho, Tokyo, has published its craft beer lineup for October 16. Five beers from breweries across Japan are available, offering a broad range of flavors from orchard fruit and citrus hops to roasted malt and a fuller red ale profile.

The most distinctive fruit-forward option is Akita no Ringo to Wana-shi no Cider from HOPDOG BREWING in Akita. At 6.5% ABV, it combines the rich aroma of apples with the refreshing character of Japanese pear, presenting the fruit identity of Akita in a single glass.

For hop-focused drinkers, Ushi Tora Brewery’s Oun no Hop Star IPA☆ from Tochigi is also on tap. The 6.5% IPA is described as both nostalgic and fresh, making it an appealing choice for those who enjoy a classic hop character with a contemporary feel.

Swan Lake Porter from Swan Lake Beer in Niigata offers a darker alternative. At 6.0% ABV, it is a roasted yet mild porter suited to a slower, malt-centered pour. Ise Kadoya Beer’s Imperial Red Ale, from Mie, comes in at 7.0% and emphasizes a substantial hop experience with a richer red ale body.

Baird Brewing’s Rising Sun Pale Ale completes the lineup. This 5.5% pale ale is known for pronounced citrus hop aroma and bitterness, making it a versatile choice alongside food or as a refreshing standalone drink.

Large pours are ¥1,300 and small pours are ¥1,000. Located on the second floor of Ichibankan Building at 1 Arakicho, Shinjuku, Maru Mugi is a beer pub where guests can explore a rotating selection of Japanese craft beer. The pub is closed on Tuesdays and public holidays.
