Beer House Hobbit, a craft beer pub in Hirakata, Osaka, is serving a new taco dish called carne asada.
The beef is marinated with spices and lemon juice before being grilled until fragrant, then served in taco form. The combination brings together the savory richness of beef, citrus brightness, and the casual appeal of tacos.
The pub recommends pairing the dish with Osakeman IPA, known for its fruity aroma, or Baka Lager, which was newly tapped at the time of the announcement.
Baka Lager is brewed by Hino Brewing in Shiga as a Czech-style lager. According to the pub, it offers floral aromas, malt-derived richness and sweetness, along with a gentle, refreshing acidity. Its clean, balanced character should make it a natural match for the grilled beef and spices of the taco.
The tap list also included Cold Brew Coffee Lager from Yatsugatake Brewery, Weizen from Iwategura Brewery, Osakeman IPA from Hansyaro Beer Brewing, Momo Weizen-Hakuho- from Minoh Brewery, Baka Lager from Hino Brewing, and Akane from Coedo Brewery. The range covers several styles, giving guests plenty of options for pairing beer with food.
Other recommended dishes included potato chips, grilled edamame, and Japanese beef steak using rump. Located in Kawaramachi, Hirakata, Beer House Hobbit is a beer-focused pub that also features vegetable dishes, tacos, and other food created by its staff.
The pub was also preparing a 17th-anniversary celebration for September 12 and 13. The planned menu included two types of tacos and flavored potatoes on September 12, followed by two vegetable-rich nachos on September 13.
