RIKRI BREWING in Takaban, Meguro, Tokyo, is featuring “Shadowboxin’” from Kills Boro Brewing Company as a guest beer.
“Shadowboxin’” is a T’mavé Pivo, or Czech-style dark lager, brewed as a tribute to Moravian brewing traditions. Moravian barley and a double-decoction process bring out layered malt character and gentle roast complexity. The beer carries an ABV of 4.9%.
In the glass, it pours a deep brown, nearly black, with aromas of roasted malt, soft chocolate, and subtle herbal notes. The palate is lightly bodied and smooth, balancing chocolate-like malt richness and roast with restrained herbal bitterness. A crisp finish keeps the beer refreshing and highly drinkable.
While dark lagers can often suggest a heavy profile, “Shadowboxin’” is built around a lighter, more sessionable structure. It should work well alongside food or as a focused first pour for drinkers exploring traditional European-inspired lagers.
Located at 3-19-20 Takaban, Meguro, RIKRI BREWING offers a chance to enjoy its own beers alongside guest selections. Beer fans visiting the brewery can check the current tap list and availability before ordering, as guest pours may change.
