Draft Lineup Updated at a Shimosuwa “Shop”

Chiitoko Shoten, “The Shop for Dagashi, Beer, and Coffee” in Shimosuwa Town, Suwa District, Nagano Prefecture, announced that it would be open on Sunday, May 17, from 10:00 to 22:00, and also shared news of an update to its draft beer lineup. As its name suggests, it is a beer pub where you can casually enjoy dagashi and coffee, while the changing selection of craft beer is also one of its highlights.

In that day’s post, the shop introduced “2 new kegs on tap”: Shiga Kogen Beer’s “from scratch” and the Shiga Kogen Beer × Dogfish Head × Oxbow collaboration “Kind of Gold.” The former was described as a blond ale with soft malt character and a crisp bitterness, while the latter is an IPA made with rice and honey, featuring citrus notes, grassy bitterness, and a dry finish.

The draft beers listed for the day were:

- Spring Lager 5.0% / Minoh Beer
- Summer Whim 4.5% / Kyoto Brewing
- from scratch 5.0% / Shiga Kogen Beer
- Kind of Gold 8.0% / Shiga Kogen Beer × Dogfish Head × Oxbow

The post also included a comment that it would likely appeal to fans of Shiga Kogen Beer’s “Sono Ju.”

Beyond beer, the shop also offers dagashi, shortbread, banana bread, scones, brownies, and sausage rolls. With coffee and lemonade as well, it is set up for everything from a daytime break to a drink later in the evening. The announcement also noted usage rules such as allowing food and drinks purchased from nearby shops to be brought in, payment by cash or PayPay, and use of the Yotsukado parking lot.

A place in Shimosuwa where you can move straight from the dagashi shelf into craft beer. It seems like a shop worth following for its rotating taps, whether you stop by between sightseeing spots or relax there for a drink as a local.
