Shima Onsen Yell Factory, based in Nakanojo’s Shima Onsen area in Gunma Prefecture, will take part in Baku-Tei, a Takasaki city-walking beer festival scheduled for Sunday, October 25, 2026.

The event invites guests to visit five venues around Takasaki while sampling craft beer and food. It runs from 11:00 to 18:00. An advance participation ticket is required and costs ¥1,500; food and drinks are purchased separately.

Participating breweries include Takasaki’s Shinkichi Brewery and Cotama Brewery, Katashina Brewing, OCTONE BREWING from Minakami, YellowBeerWorks from Fukushima, and Brewmin from Toyama. For Shima Onsen Yell Factory, the festival will be a chance to bring its beers down from the mountain resort town to an urban event in Takasaki.

The brewery is the only brewery in Shima Onsen and produces beer using the character of its hot-spring region. Its lineup includes Maya-hime, Ouketsu, and Yoru no Otozure under the Shima Onsen Yell brand. Visitors to Shima can also find the beers at Washinoya Liquor Store, the brewery’s direct-sales shop and taproom, which offers eight draft taps as well as bottled beer.

The brewery says it is currently selecting which beers to bring to the festival. That leaves room for discovery: attendees may be able to taste a beer associated with Shima Onsen while moving through Takasaki’s streets.

Food vendors will offer items including bak kut teh, boiled dumplings, rice-flour fries, house-made sausages, sourdough pizza, and grilled mackerel skewers. Guests can collect a “mugi mark” with each beer and continue on to the next venue, making the event as much a city walk as a tasting experience.
