Sunao Brewery, based in Yokote, Akita Prefecture, has introduced a new beer called "Daikokuten." This release was brewed in collaboration with Asamai Shuzo, also from Akita.

The style is SAKE KOJI Lager, with an 8.0% ABV. It uses Centennial and Pacifica hops, and incorporates black koji from Asamai Shuzo, known for products such as Amanoto, as an adjunct ingredient. In the post, it is explained that the black koji produces citric acid, creating a clean, refreshing profile with a distinctive tartness.

Sunao Brewery is a craft beer brewery in Yokote, Akita Prefecture. On its official website, it describes its brewing philosophy as making "body-friendly" beer that stays close to nature and brings out the character of its ingredients. By combining that approach with sake-making expertise, this collaboration beer has taken on an even more distinctive design.

The post presents it as a confident release that was also well received at Golden Week events, and notes that it can be purchased not only at retail locations but also through the online shop. Beyond enjoying it at home, being able to taste it through the local taproom and sales channels is also part of this beer's appeal.

As a release where craft beer and sake-brewing techniques intersect, "Daikokuten" marks Sunao Brewery's current direction. It will be interesting to see how it balances koji-derived nuances with the drinkability typical of a lager.
