Hakuba Beer Garage’s HAKUBA CRAFT label has seen its HAZY IPA, "Tropical Snow," earn a silver medal at the Japan Great Beer Awards 2026. In the brewery’s Instagram post, the beer is described as using four hop varieties to create a bright hop-driven aroma and a juicy, smooth texture. Although it is an IPA, the bitterness is kept in check, and the beer finishes at 7.0% ABV, giving it presence without leaning too heavily into harshness.

Hakuba Beer Garage is a brewery-attached restaurant in Otari Village, Nagano, next to the Tsugaike Kogen ski area. The brewery emphasizes house-brewed beer made with ultra-soft snowmelt water, alongside dishes that make use of local ingredients. That setting makes the name "Tropical Snow" especially fitting: a beer that ties together a snowy mountain landscape with a tropical hop profile.

The result is a beer that should appeal not only to dedicated craft beer fans, but also to drinkers who usually avoid bitter IPAs. Its combination of tropical aroma, juicy texture, and approachable bitterness gives the beer a clear identity, and the award adds another reason to pay attention to this Hakuba-born label.
