Saien Microbrewery with Kitchen in Morioka, Iwate Prefecture, has started serving its Cranberry Sour Ale. On the brewery's official Instagram, it was introduced as "opened today," and is being presented as a fruit sour ale with the refreshing tartness of cranberries.

According to the post, this beer uses cranberries and sour cherries to create a drink with a gently sweet-tart fruit character and a light mouthfeel. In terms of flavor direction, it is finished with an emphasis on being enjoyed with food like wine rather than highlighting beer-like bitterness, and the brewery says it suits the coming season as well. A message was also included saying that not only beer fans, but also people who do not usually drink beer, should give it a try.

Saien Microbrewery with Kitchen is a pub brewery with brewing equipment inside the restaurant, and one of Baeren Brewery's directly managed restaurants. Located in the Saien area of Morioka, it has the advantage of letting guests enjoy food and beer in the same place. Not only standard beers, but also limited fruit-forward and sour-style offerings like this one are possible precisely because the shop brews on site. This Cranberry Sour Ale is also drawing attention as a new release meant to be enjoyed together with food.
