Appearance: Deep brown, bordering on black. Dark tan head.
Aroma: Dark chocolate and coffee with a slight underlying prune aroma.
Taste: Dark choclate and coffee flavors. Sweet with a bitter sweet finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium body with a creamy mouthfeel and a slightly dry finish.
Aftertaste: Lingering dark choclate and coffee flavors.
Overall: A truly excellent beer that proves porter is an all year round beer.
Notes: This would pair well with a meal like steak grilled with pepper and garlic. It would transistion effortlessly to desert as well and finish off the night.

Haandbryggeriet – Dark Force
Beer: Dark Force
Brewery: Haandbryggeriet in Drammen, Norway
Style: Double extreme imperial wheat stout
ABV: 9.0%
Reviewed: 12-May-2009 on Episode 140
Appearance: Black with a dark tan head.
Aroma: Caramel, coffee, chocolate and a little alcohol.
Taste: Bitter coffee, chocolate. Even though the alcohol was perceptible in the aroma it was not in the taste.
Mouthfeel: Silky. We don’t know if it was a result of the wheat, but it was interesting.
Aftertaste: Bitter roasted coffee with a Dry finish.
Overall: Interesting beer that is its own style. Well done and we reccomend giving it a go.
Notes: Our bottle had a plug of sediment stopping up the bottle. As best we can tell it in no way comprimised the taste. Solid smooth beer. Great if you want a dark beer with a ligther body. Would go well with a slow cooked beef roast.
