Going to Extremes – Podcast

Posted By John on May 8th, 2009

Episode 139

lucky_drink_bc_medWe thought it would be fun to go to extremes this week. Bringing in Lucky beer from Australia and Sierra Nevada’s Torpedo Double IPA. The contrast of a light lager and a double IPA seemed like a good idea and fun to try.

For music this week we went with a song that describes the luck we all sometimes have. We listened to Jonathan Coulton and his song Screwed. Life is good, but every once in a while this sums up the feeling. Next week we’ll listen to something more inspirational from Mr. Coulton. Thanks to the Podsafe Music Network for providing the tunes

Luck Drink Co – Lucky Beer

Posted By John on May 8th, 2009

lucky_drink_bottle_smallBeer: Lucky Beer

Brewery: Lucky Drink Co. in Australia

ABV: 4.8%

Reviewed: 06-May-09 on episode 140

Appearance: Straw color with a loose white head.

Aroma: Light malt with a slight aceldaldehyde trace.

Taste: Light malt flavors. Low noble hop taste in the finish. Trace aceldaldehyde, which in this case does not detract from the taste.

Mouthfeel: light body with a high level of carbonation. Kelvin described it as a champagne feel.

Aftertaste: Overall clean finish with a slight lingering malt sweetness

Overall: A well made light lager.

Notes: A surprisingly enjoyable light lager. We were skeptical of his beer. A light lager in a green bottle, albeit an admittedly spiffy one, is usually not a good thing.
